Back in 2023, we had a wild idea 😅

An opportunity arose, if anyone was going to take us up on this crazy but amazing offer, it was going to be us. This is right up our alley 🙏🏻. "Let's build a family hotel in the Maldives"... we said to each other.

We hope and expect the hotel at Maafushi to be ready to welcome you by the end of 2024/beginning of 2025, please follow the blog here and on our social media channels.

Here we are at Maafushi, thinking about all the details and the impact this decision will have on our lives.

And who are we?

Our names are Jane & Thomas Olesen. At home we have a bakery and two shops, which we have run for the past 17 years. The bakery is located in Lystrup just outside Aarhus and we have a shop in the Løvbjerg centre at Trøjborg in Aarhus N.

Thomas, (51) is a trained baker and has worked as a baker since he was 15 years old, where he of course started as an apprentice. Thomas has also worked as a master baker in Switzerland and Australia. Since then he has created his own recipes and further developed products.

Jane (48) is a trained florist and hypnotherapist. She loves to decorate. She is responsible for decorating the shops for various events/seasons, as well as decorating and making the cakes. Jane is in charge of the shops and the shop staff, while Thomas is in charge of the bakers and pastries.

In addition, we are both used to working together to run a business, sharing tasks and having many balls in the air.

We have 3 children and a dog that we enjoy spending time with.

We have travelled a lot over the last 10-12 years with our children and have tried to give them as many experiences as possible everywhere we have been! When travelling, we are also very conscious about the quality of the food in the different places we have been in the world. When we got this opportunity, we also saw it as an opportunity to pass on the good quality we offer at home to another country that needs that final touch.

This means that we now have another focal point and a new addition to the family in the form of a hotel in the Maldives. However, we still care about our business, employees and customers in Denmark.

To those in Denmark, rest assured! We will continue to run our bakery shops and provide you with great service, delicious breakfasts, cakes, yes-thank-you offers, etc.
