The construction

We're building a hotel in the Maldives, specifically on our favourite island, Maafushi, which is about 35-45 minutes by speedboat from the main island, Malé.

Maafushi is a relatively small local island. It is approximately 1.2 km long and 0.3 km wide.

The island offers a lot of different things such as restaurants, water sports, tours, excursions, beautiful beaches and more. It is one of the most developed local islands in the Maldives.

On the local island, there are plenty of opportunities to experience culture and have a lot of experiences for less money than on the resort islands. Day trips to resort islands are also available to get that part of the experience while on holiday in the Maldives.

Here's a little about the process:

We have bought an already ongoing construction project and want to put our own personal stamp on the building. Therefore, we need to change the interior design and the distribution of rooms on the different floors.

In addition, we're adding more floors to the hotel, giving us a total of 6 floors with a total of 39 rooms.

At the hotel we're also creating a restaurant/mini bakery, as we own a bakery back home in Denmark and know how to make pastries and what's missing on the island.

We are still working on finalising the last details before we can start the project. We expect to have it completely finished in 12 months = end of December 2024/start of 2025.
