Ordering and update from Bali

So far we've spent 2 weeks in Ubud, Bali, where we've visited various shops/manufacturers and the shipping office. We had no definite plans when we arrived, i.e. no addresses to go to, driver or a specific contact person here. So we were completely on our own, but not dependent on others, which was nice, but in some cases it would have been nice to have a local with us or just know more about the process.

We rented scooters and then it was "just" a matter of getting out into the traffic and all the way to the outskirts of the city to find exactly what we wanted. We found most of the places ourselves and were also recommended some other places, shipping agents and offices by the locals we met in the shops. These are people they have worked with before or who they know and can vouch for.

The whole process of staying in a hotel abroad and shopping in different countries requires you to have a good gut feeling and trust the right people. However, we have come to an agreement and have made some good decisions! The orders have now been placed with the various manufacturers and we are happy with our choice of locations and products. The invoices have been signed, transfers are underway, and so is production.

At the same time as all this in Bali, we have several containers from China that have been dispatched and are waiting to be shipped. We have received formwork boards, paint and filler in the Maldives, which they are now setting up, painting etc.

We are SO looking forward to it slowly starting to be shipped to the Maldives! πŸ‡²πŸ‡»

There are many balls in the air everywhere and we have got a lot of things under control, but there is still a lot more to sort out that you might not realise when you see things from the sidelines. Among other things, we need staff, clothes for the staff, decorate the hotel the way we want, install a booking system, choose an IT system for the restaurant, choose a menu and much more. Some of these things we're tracking down and have chosen, but some other things need to be approved first.

It's all going to be so good!

What we don't get from the start, we have to adjust, get in the long run or find alternatives. Rome wasn't built in a day - and you understand that when you first embark on a project like this πŸ˜‚
