18 February 2025 - The first containers have arrived in Maafushi

For some, 18. February 2025 is just a normal day for some, but for us it's a very special day. We have reached another construction milestone🤩😍 It's the day we received the first two containers with fixtures, such as sinks, tiles, showers, mattresses etc. all the way from China at 07:30 (Maldivian time). We can't get our arms down, it's so cool - NOW IT'S ON✨ The containers were a 20-foot and a 40-foot🌏

In 1 hour they filled and emptied 3 cars. They were about 15-20 people to unload and load the two cars. So it takes a lot of time to unload the boat because there is so much. They are very careful with the tiles and take one tile off the boat at a time. However, we think it's pretty quick to get the boat loaded onto the cars and into the hotel. This means we don't have to rent any land and store a lot of stuff, but can keep it inside the hotel.

The first rivet they lifted and unloaded from the boat had broken during transport. In other words, it had broken lengthwise. So was the last tile on the first pallet, but I wonder if we can use them for the stairs or other places where they need to be cut🫠😅

While some people were waiting (with empty water bottles) for the next car to be emptied, I popped out and bought something for the whole team.

After a particularly hard day's work for our employees/construction crew, it was also much needed for them to indulge in some soft drinks and oreos. These are snacks that they wouldn't spend money on themselves, and something they appreciate in a completely different way than people in Europe ever would. They work hard and you have to show that you appreciate it🍫🍪😮‍💨

Because without them, no construction. Without our own hard work in Denmark to get our bakery and stores up and running, without our employees in Denmark, there would be no money to make this family dream come true! 💌🇲🇻
